Given the dynamic and unpredictable business environment, organizational agility has emerged as a critical capability for enterprises seeking to prosper in an uncertain world. This systematic literature review examines organizational agility and its defining characteristics in accordance with the steps using the “Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis” (PRISMA) format. This article breaks the review process down into three stages, i.e., planning the review, carrying out the review, and reporting the results of the review. After a thorough analysis of academic literature published from 1999 to 2023 in diverse disciplines such as Business, Management and Accounting, Social Sciences, Decision Sciences, six major characteristics of organizational agility are identified: IT Competence and Innovation, Supply Chain Adaptability, Role of Information Technology, Balanced Structures, Effective Leadership and HRM Practices and Crisis Adaptability.
