Businesses play an important role in generating revenue and satiating the economic income requirement of the nation. But unfortunately, most businesses across the world are under significant financial strain post-pandemic. The state of incompetence of a company to meet its financial commitments is implied as financial distress. The failure of various companies in the past has made the policymakers and regulators anxious and forced them to revise the frameworks and the businesses to reorganise their structures and adopt ethical practices seriously. To properly deal with financial distress, both firms and policymakers need to recognise it early and take corrective action quickly. The paper aims to discover the extent of research done on financial distress with the help of bibliometric analysis. Furthermore, this study tries to discover the scope of further research on this topic. Literature for the period 2000-2023 was considered and collected from the Scopus database.
