Purpose: The present research attempts to study an increase in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country and the effect of Special Economic Zone policy intervention over the performance for the overall economic development. Design/Methodology/Approach: The methodological approach of this research study is conceptual. Findings: The Researchers attempt to locate the balance of this Blitzkrieg approach taken by the government. Their effort is to look at both sides of the coin and suggest a well balanced approach which has drawn lessons from China . Research Limitations/Implications: The main limitation for this study is that it is based on limited secondary data. Replicating the research approach with more comprehensive data would result in deriving better conclusion. Practical Implications: India’s advantage lies in its strong economic growth prospects, availability of large and skilled workforce, comparative advantage in several industries, a strong policy framework, availability of supporting ancillary industries, strong growth in the external sector and a huge domestic market. These factors, combined with a proactive role from the government in marketing the SEZs, and in attaining the overarching objective of boosting India’s exports and attracting export related foreign direct investment (FDI). Originality/Value: This study showcased the original work of the authors in the field of the Assessment of Indo-China’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
