Conflict Management in Teams: Causes & Cures

Purpose: It is an attempt to study team conflict, its causes, and team conflict resolution methods. The study also aims to offer certain healthy teamwork measures to make organizations more effective. Design/Methodology/Approach: The research data has been analyzed through the use of Mean & Score Values. Chi-Square Test has been used to find out whether there is a significant difference of opinion among the respondents. The sample consisted of 53 managers from Public Sector and 73 managers from Private Sector. Findings: The study reported higher scores, both in Teamwork Practices and Teamwork Effectiveness for the private sector as compared to public sector organizations. Though, the difference in scores in not very high, even then public sector organizations need to learn from private sector organizations for achieving higher levels of team effectiveness. Research Limitations: The study is limited to Delhi and nearby areas, and is only focused on managerial levels. Managerial Implications: Lots of methods have been provided in this paper for resolution of conflicts and depending on the situation appropriate method is to be applied. Originality/Values: The study offers unique method of Seven Step to Conflict Resolution (Team Problem Solver).
