Synergic Aspects of Traditional Indian Construction

Purpose: The focus of this paper is to discuss the genesis of traditional Indian construction approach and present the synergic aspects, which form the basis of inherent strength to withstand environmental loadings. Design/Methodology/Approach: The descriptive study was conducted based on extensive literature review. Findings: Role of Indian traditional construction in the present day construction activity can be a major synergizing force in bringing the best of both world making a unique and distinctive contributions without losing the basic Indian traits. After compairing the tradition with modern construction, highlights of Indian models are presented briefly to bring forth the point that there is a lot to look inward. Research Limitations: This study limits the generalization of the findings to the construction only. Managerial Implications: It provides the basis for the modern construction which can be constructed on the basis of traditional model. Originality/Value: This study showcased the original work of the author in the field of Indian construction work (traditional vs modern).
